Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility in a Toyota Hilux, Fortuner or Corolla Cross depends on the multimedia unit fitted to the specific year and grade. A model name alone is not enough to guarantee compatibility, because Toyota has introduced smartphone integration at different times and on different specifications.
Use this deciding test: connect your phone to the vehicle’s USB data port. If Apple CarPlay or Android Auto opens on the Toyota screen, the car already has the wired system required by a wireless adapter. If it already connects wirelessly, you do not need an adapter.
Toyota Hilux
Toyota South Africa has offered Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on selected Hilux multimedia systems, including the eight-inch system introduced on certain Raider and Legend models. That does not mean every older Hilux or every grade has the same radio. Confirm the system installed in the vehicle rather than buying from the model name alone.
If a cable currently launches CarPlay or Android Auto, the HYPER IT adapter can remove that repeated plugging-in step. If the screen only provides Bluetooth calling and music, the adapter cannot create CarPlay or Android Auto.
Toyota Fortuner
Fortuner equipment changes by generation, year and grade. Look for Apple CarPlay or Android Auto in the source or connectivity menu, then perform the cable test. Some newer systems may already offer wireless connectivity; those vehicles do not need a conversion adapter.
Toyota Corolla Cross
Corolla Cross owners should use the same process. Check the infotainment menu, connect through the correct USB data port and confirm that the full CarPlay or Android Auto interface appears. A port that charges the phone is not automatically a data port.

- Pairs once, then reconnects automatically on future drives.
- Keeps supported navigation, calls, music, voice control and vehicle controls working through the existing interface.
- Does not add CarPlay or Android Auto to a radio that lacks it.
Quick Toyota compatibility checklist
- Start the vehicle and unlock the phone.
- Use a known data-capable cable in the Toyota smartphone-projection USB port.
- Accept any permission prompts on the phone and dashboard.
- If the CarPlay or Android Auto home screen appears, wired compatibility is confirmed.
